A Note on Nigel Hastilow
E-mail Dated Friday the 13th October 2000,
Nigel Hastilow <n.hastilow@iod.co.uk>
to Sean Gabb
Dear Dr Gabb,
Thank you for rightly describing me as a Eurosceptic.
It is increasingly apparent that the next General Election will not merely
be about the euro, or even about closer integration with the EU but about
the whole question of our country's survival as an independent, sovereign
nation.
Alastair Campbell, Mr Blair's official spokesman,
claims Britain exists only according to definitions of economic performance.
This is dangerous nonsense but in line with New Labour's clear attempts
to break up the United Kingdom and deliver it in federal slices to Brussels.
The argument about Britain and the idea of Britishness
is becoming fundamental to the political and constitutional future of our
country - in so far as Labour recognises the existence of our country as
a single entity any more.
It is not an issue of race. Mr Blair and his
chums should ask people like Denise Lewis or Jeremy Guscott, Nasser Hussain
or Mark Ramprakash what they think of this country before they go any further
in trying to destroy it.
Best wishes
Nigel Hastilow
