E-mail Dated Tuesday the 9th November 1999,
Stephen Day MP to Sean Gabb
It has come to my attention that you have listed me as a "Europhile". I am amazed you feel able to make such an assertion without any direct contact with me that I recall. As on of the first sitting MPs at the last election to publicly declare that if elected I would not vote for Britain to join the European single currency, and having regulalry written and spoken of my opposition to the creation of a Federal European State, I am amazed that you feel able to slot me in as a "Europhile". I am neither a "Europhile" or a "Europhobe". I am a Conservative, who is fully supportive of my Leader's position on the single currency and Europe in general.
Kindly alter your website accordingly.
I would be grateful if you do NOT publish my e-mail address.
Dear Mr Day,
I have received your e-mail of earlier today.
On the strength of what you say, I have reclassified you to a don't know, which inlcudes those who follow the leadership line on Europe.
Though I will oblige you, I am greatly disturbed by your unwillingness to have your e-mail address published. You are an elected representative of the people. It is your duty to make yourself as easy to contact as possible. Please reconsider your request.
Yours sincerely,
Dr Sean Gabb
