Note Dated Thursday the 28th June 2001 According to an news report on the BBC website from Wednesday the 27th June 2001, James Clappison is supporting Kenneth Clarke in his attempt to become Leader of the Conservative Party. According to a further news report on the BBC website from Tuesday the 26th June 2001, Kenneth Clarke promises to do the following if elected Leader of the Conservative Party: "To scrap his party's policy of opposing the Nice Treaty and the European rapid reaction force". Add to this his repeated, passionate belief in British membership of the Euro. It is reasonable to suppose that anyone who supports a man who supports this is himself a Europhile. We have therefore changed Mr Clappison's classification to Europhile. Sean Gabb
