Mr Butler contacted me on Tuesday the 26th October 1999, and pointed out that his classification as a Europhile was inaccurate.  He told me that his election literature when he contested Warrington South in 1992 was hostile to the single currency, and that Sir George Gardiner would have preferred him as his successor at Reigate.

In light of this, we are happy to change Mr Butler's classification to Eurosceptic.
