Here, you will find the Candidlist pages as they evolved beween October 1999 and the 2001 General Election. Siince then, the Candidlist has been suspended. Its work appears to be done. It will remain on the web for a long time yet to come as an archive.

The Roll of Shame, the Nice Inititiative, and the extension of the list to other parties, were all failures, but the focus on the Conservative Party was a definite success. It had an impact on the way Conservatives were willing to talk about Europe. The Candidlist has begun again (May 2002), with a single focus on the Conservative Party. But the point of focus has shifted away from arguments over the Euro, to membership of the European Union itself. There are new questions and new criteria of judgement. However, the facts accumulated before the last General Election remain valuable.

For this reason, the old Candidlist pages are left exactly as they were, but have been shifted to a new subdirectory on the Candidlist site. Here they are.
